Riders gear up for two games this weekend.

The Ghostriders will be in Invermere this Friday night for their second of eight games against the Rockies. The Ghostriders opened the season in Invermere on September 13th and won 4-2. The Rockies have had a tough start so far and sit at  0-3-0-1. They will play here in Fernie on October 17th. Friday's game is not scheduled as a radio broadcast game.

Golden will be here in Fernie this Saturday for the Riders home opener. The Rockets are in first place with a 3-2-0-1 record but at 6  they have played more games than the other teams. The Rockets defeated Creston 3-2 last Friday but lost 6-3 to Osoyoos, who so far seem to be the top team this year, on Saturday. They host Beaver Valley Friday night before their trip to Fernie Saturday. Their top scorer is Braeden Allkins (96) with 4 G 4 A in 6 games.

The Riders played 3 games last weekend. winning 7-1 in Kelowna 3-2 in Armstrong but lost 3-1 in Summerland.

Ghostrider Notebook

Brandon Butler got his first win in net for the Riders in the 3-2 win in Armstrong, he was the coaches pick for player of the game.

Dylan Robertson scored a shorthanded goal in Kelowna, he had 4 of them last year, Joel Burgess had 5 and was on top in the KIJHL SH goal race.

Jeff Orser got the win in net in Kelowna and was the POG but took the loss in Summerland.

Forwards Sam Plaquin, Dylan Robertson and Justin Peers each have 4 points in the first four games while Tyler Rebelato leads the defense with 3 points.

Sixteen year old Cavin Tilsley was the coaches player of the game in Kelowna and has 2 points in his first four games.

When Tayler Sincennes (@gc116 taught me the spellin) got in his first KIJHL fight his Twitter fan club exploded with well wishers…old time hockey. More old time hockey, Sam Plaquin lost half of a tooth in practice Thursday, then put it under his pillow and was rewarded with a goal on Friday. Who says the tooth fairy doesn’t exist, did I say that…even more old time hockey Derek Georgopoulos blocked a shot with his face last weekend prompting Asst Coach James Ouimett to quip "The Kid Want's it" ....What, to look like Plaquin ???

The Coaches Player of the Week was Justin Peers and the Practice Player of the Week was Kale Johnston .

The Riders have 6 PPG in four games.

Rider rivals in Kimberley are 3-0 and are a +8 with 17 goals scored in 4 games. Fernie is a +7  with 15 goals in 4 road games. The Nitros will show their faces here in Fernie on November 22nd, Kimbo fans....scratch that date on the side of the wife's new car.

And finnaly...Before the game on Saturday  from 9AM- 3 PM the Riders team up with Fernie Ford and the Drive One 4Ur Community fundraiser. For every fan that comes down for a hamburger and test drive in a new Ford the team will receive  $20.00 from Ford Canada. It will be at the back of the arena so come on down and drive a Ford for ur Ghostriders.
